Bad News

My computer crashed yesterday and it might take me a while to get back to blogging. Hopefully, I can get it repaired (be back within a month or two) or if I have to buy a new modem (might take longer TBA). In the meantime, I'll be working on designing/creating my junolyn website. So, I'll post a preview once I'm ready.

Junolyn's Top Picks 4.13.10

If you haven't checked out Sanrio Japan's online store, then here are the highlights that you might be interested in.
Available right now is their white pretty Hello Kitty Umbrella. Looks almost elegant from my viewpoint. I admit that I love almost everything with the color white. This design works for me.

My Sanrio Rating:  ♥♥♥

This next piece is a beautiful purse/handbag holder that acts like a keychain, but attaches to your purse like shown below. I love the colors and it doesn't hurt that there's diamonds on it as well.

My Sanrio Rating:

Japan Sanrio has revealed another new 2010 Hello Kitty design, which looks to have a plaid background look.

My Sanrio Rating:    3/4

Highlight of the series: Another cute Hello Kitty umbrella. If you're in a very good mood and it's raining outside, this umbrella's design will surely brighten the world with some sparkle of cuteness.

New Sanrio Items Added to Store

One of my biggest accomplishment recently has been letting go of some of my sanrio stuff below, especially the 1996 round Pochacco tin with silver handle. I had to really think long and hard on whether I could part with this tin. The reason is because I had started to collect tins a few years back and had wanted to collect as many as designs as I could. Now a few years down the road and I'm at a point where tin coin banks like below are great looking, but now are not one of my favorites to collect. Maybe I might regret it later, but for now this cute tin is ready for a new addict owner.

Next up is my triple copy of my 1999 Pochacco wallet with the ever so popular goggle/plaid design. This Pochacco design is one of my favorites. I can tell you that whoever becomes the owner of this vintage wallet will definitely treasure this classic Pochacco piece. My own copy reminds me of the golden days of pure sweetness. If my words are getting too sugary sweet on you, let me know and I'll try to stop these flowery stuff that is tumbling out of my brain.

Speaking of sugar sweetness, this next item will make you want to get your hands on this lovely 2005 Little Twins Stars Stationery Folder with Letters. If you love writing letters to your dear friends and family, then this LTS folder is perfect for you to keep your sanrio stationery inside.

And I saved the best for last...
Here is a 1999 rare one of kind Sanrio Hello Kitty small 4cm tall Clock that was purchased through Scholastics. The beautiful detailed design on the clock are one of the many reasons why I had purchased it years ago. It even came with a gift box. To see the pictures of the front design of the box and clock, head on over to my online store.

Isn't it beautiful?

Sanrio Coin Banks

Besides plushes, I love collecting Sanrio's coin banks. Aren't they adorably cute?
(e-bay pics below)

7 Inches

9 Inches

Like many collectors, I have come to understand the fascination for coin banks/statues. You really cannot find these coin banks anywhere except in e-bay or in Sanrio stores. Though, big ones that reach 9" is a rare one in the sanrio community these days because Sanrio hasn't been creating and selling large coin banks since the 90's. Coin banks are one of the many things that I wish Sanrio brought back in their Sanrio stores across the country. I believe that Sanrio needs to go back to the basics of things that made their Sanrio characters so popular. If it wasn't for vintage items and e-bay, I would have stopped collecting Sanrio all together. It really isn't fun stepping into a Sanrio store and leaving with a disappointing feeling. I did that so many times in 2003-2008 that I eventually stopped visiting Sanrio for months. It's a pattern that is hard to break because I have lost faith in new Sanrio products. The only character that keeps me coming back is the Little Twin Stars. I'd have to say I have purchased more LTS than Hello Kitty when it comes to new products. With Sanrio, their Hello Kitty series is more like a hit and miss. Mostly misses, but a very few that are actually cute. Here's to much hope that Sanrio can turn their luck around and get back into the game of tuning out quality designed products.

Kittifying Project 2 Starts Now

HERE'S MY BIG SWEET PURCHASE
As promised since last week... and a thank you for putting up with my big 4 week teaser  ;)

Literally, this past weekend and Monday, I have been walking on air. Let me say that I looked like a fool who can't stop grinning all day. My brother gives me irritating looks because he knows the reason behind my happy smile. My co-workers just grin back at me and ask me why I am so cheerful. I responded by going into detail on my lovely big sweet Sanrio purchase that took me four weeks to pay off. If you are already guessing-- yes, it's a 2008 Japan Exclusive Momoberry plushie as you can't help look down at the picture below. The big one is H-U-G-E!!!

I still can't believe they're all mine! Mine! Mine!!!

^  I wouldn't have been able to pull this big Japan purchase off if it wasn't for my brother. He is the best brother in the world! The reason is because he let me spend a lot of $$$ to get these exclusive Momoberry plushies. We live on a tight budget, but to let me spend so much on this fabulous rare opportunity-- well, who wouldn't want an understanding enabler? A best supporting family member, who enables my addiction to let me do what I want. Shh! Don't tell him that I'm saying he's an enabler or else he might have to put his foot down on my Hello Kitty big spending habits.

I'm still working on the details, but I'm hoping to add another two smaller sizes to this plush set. Crazy, right? I'm already crazy getting a double copy of the Large size (above pic is XL & L), but that's kind of an accident, a whole different story that I won't get into unless you ask me, of course.  ;)

The XL plush was so huge that my International Shopping Agent had to ship it twice to me because the first time around, Japan rejected the parcel due to it exceeding the size to enter the U.S. I believe the ISA was trying to ship it in a box, which if you can imagine comes to be a pretty BIG and heavy box. In the end, it came wrapped with brown wrapping paper with the two other plushes wrapped around the XL's legs. This is my second big parcel from Japan... the mailman must really wonder about me because what do you think when he saw that humongous sized tall package that he had to deliver to my apartment complex?

One of my co-workers asked me where in the world would I put that huge Momoberry doll and my answer? Well, let me put it this way, I am working on rearranging and redecorating my part of my bedroom-- you'll just have to stay tune when my "Kittifying Project 2" comes about.

The Down Side of An Obsession

How Do I Let Go of my doubles?

Is there a guide for sanrio collectors who have gone completely over the top in collecting double copies and can't seem to let go? Because right now would be a great time to help this anxiety sanrio addict control her need to keep double copies....

Anyone have any advice? LOL.

So, I've come up with a few things to try out:

  1. Get Therapy   - My obsession must come from a serious problem. If I can cure my need for doubles, then maybe I can learn to downsize my sanrio collection. (Though the hard part is where am I going to find the $$ to pay for this if all already goes to my sanrio addiction?)
  2. Get Another complete opposite Addiction (Less Expensive)- How about try getting a smoking habit? Yeah, bad for my health, but really great for my wallet. Random: How about knitting? (Why don't I just kill myself now?) What other addiction would you suggest?
  3. Join a non-Sanrio Support Group - I need to surround myself with people, who have been obsessed with other things that are not sanrio related because that way  a.) they'll never tempt you to go back to your addiction if they ever jump off the wagon    b.) It's better to cut off everything sanrio related even if it means stopping all online visits to Hello Kitty Junkies and other sanrio websites  *cries like a baby at the evil thoughts that came into my head...  don't listen to this addict*   :0(
  4. Hire a Financial Manager (or whatever you call 'em) - Maybe all I need is someone to stop being an enabler like my brother  and LITERALLY, take away my money
  5. Transfer My love from Cat to Dog - Now, how can I persuade my brother to get a dog to keep in this apartment. BTW- he finally is getting the balinese kitten in April. He changed his mind from siamese to balinese. *wailing over here*
  6. Keeping Myself Occupied- To keep my mind off Hello Kitty and sanrio, I'd probably learn another language... anything other than Japanese, of course. German anyone? How about Arabic? No? How about challenging my badly out of tune voice with singing lessons?

Remember, I'm not trying to be funny (above). You're reading what it's like in the head of a Sanrio Addict. On second thought, above list seems more like a way to terminate an obsession, so I don't think I am ready for that just yet.  :0P

After creating this list my mood went from happy to depressed. *Decides to go look at my big sweet purchase instead... hehe*

and By the way...........

Someone Must Be Crazyyyyyyy

.:: Bizarre of the Month::.

Check this e-bay post: For a Momoberry Plush (tiny size)
Absurd Asking Price: $4000 USD

Ok, I would like to know what this particular e-bay seller is sniffing because who would pay $4000 USD for a very small Momoberry Hello Kitty plushie??? (answer: no one)

Seriously, I'd be genuinely surprised if it did get sold, but wait, this is reality we are talking about... nope, chances are that plush will go down in e-bay history of "Wacky but True: What were the sellers thinking?!". What do you think about e-bay sellers like these?

Beware of Plastic

I was browsing the net one day and I came across an online interviewed article about a eraser collector, who had kept her erasers in a "tackle box-style plastic sewing case" and her erasers eventually had melted her plastic case. Most likely that happened when they were not kept in cool temperature level. Though, I lost the article link somewhere, but now that I think about it, I am going to rethink about keeping my erasers in a plastic bin. On the safe side, I'll be on the hunt for metal containers to keep my erasers in, just in case I ever decide to get a storage again.

While I'm on the subject of conserving your sanrio collection- here's a good question for sanrio collectors: How do you preserve your pencil collections? It's really easy to preserve erasers, plushes, and stickers by protecting them with either bubble wrap, cellophane, or some air proof protection. But, what do you keep your pencils and still have them remain clean like new? Like many collectors, I put mine in ziplock bags. Though, instead of putting them all in one ziplock bag, I separate them just in case the lead residue spreads and makes the pencil design dirty. I'm pretty paranoid about getting my vintage pencils dirty, so I've taken it to one step further and bubble wrap a pencil individually. I've only bubble wrapped some of my vintage pencils, not all because I like to take them out of the small clear bin and look at my pencil collection over and over. Looking over my pencil collection always amazes me that I actually own so many pencils and it took me a long time to build this pen/pencil collection.

Picture of the Month : APRIL

This month will surely have lovely hidden surprises for you!  :)
