Happy New Year 2010

We have reached another milestone, people!

Ten long years from the '90's. Seems so long ago, but a new year brings new hope... and more Hello Kitty stuff to buy and buy!

Favorite Guide to Vintage Items

I don't usually buy any kind of Hello Kitty books, unless they are mini sticker books or vintage coloring books with stickers - so below is one item book that is very handy for a collector like me, who wants to know what kind of vintage items were selling at the time.

Not a lot of Hello Kitty books have many pictures of vintage merchandise to be an actual use when browsing e-bay or recognizing vintage items in yard sales. This one book is definitely a keeper for any vintage sanrio collector.

Maybe this is why most of my collection consists of vintage Sanrio stuff.
"You want what you can't have"

I want what was sold in the past that I can't get my greedy lil hands on.   ;0)

New Years Fantasy Resolution:
Help fund the research of a time travel machine to the past! I'd pay big bucks to go back in time to buy these vintage items, especially the pencil cases, pens, and erasers.
New Years Realistic Resolution:
Wishing to find some great sanrio stuff in future Sanrio store visits.

.::New Items::.

Plus with a new year, does this mean that Sanrio will finally impress me big time to keep me visiting all year round instead of mainly buying vintage items online?

I see some new retro looking products. I think they're going back in time... hopefully, not cheaply made.

What do you think? Do you like? I'm not really into towels, so I rather see the other products of the similar design in store to pass any final judgements. And, p.s. where are the pencil cases (opens on two side ones) and stamp sets that look like suitcases?

Where are the good quality Pens, Sanrio???

Here a couple of my favorite vintage pieces that are from my personal collection over the years:

^  These are my treasured items that I will forever treasure. To this day, I wish I can go back in time and visit Sanrio more when they were selling these items. I visited a couple of Sanrio stores this year and I am amazed at how none of the pens, pencils, or mechanical pencils are up to par to vintage pieces. You would think Sanrio would go back to the people who ultimately designed and used quality materials for their pens.

Have you seen the My Melody thick big pens with the multi function different colors?

I love the design for the pens, but let me tell you that Sanrio had them made somewhere cheap! Notice the thick big pen has different colored multi functions -- the one that you push down to get a different color, it's made of cheap material compared to vintage thick pens. If you come across one in a Sanrio store, take a look at what I am talking about. It's one thing to cut down expenses, but to take quality from a design will hurt Sanrio's reputation in the long run.

Merry Christmas

Everyone, have a happy and Merry Christmas!

^ I just started collecting Hello Kitty ornaments of this kind. One day, I'll get a white or light pink X-mas tree to make it with mostly Hello Kitty ornaments. Another year, but a great blessed life. Have a safe holiday!

Christmas Shopping

This past weekend was a packed busy one! While visiting a relative, I decided to visit Ontario Mills' Sanrio store and let me tell you I was surprised that there was so many shoppers in the store. Literally, I had to carefully watch where I step (there was a worker on the floor arranging stuff) and tried many times to carefully maneuver around the small spaces to get where I wanted to be and not bump into anyone by accident. I'm happy to report that I didn't go overboard and spend all my holiday money, but I did get pretty cute stuff.

Also, I bought a pretty pink Hello Kitty 2009 ruler (the pink bear design one), but I didn't take a picture of it yet. For some reason, I could not find the "Love Hello Kitty" series in Glendale or in Hollywood, so I was surprised when I found some items in Ontario Mills. I always wanted the HK pins so I was jumping in excitement when I found it in the store. I was like a little kid finding a favorite toy. Next, I found two lovely Hello Kitty greeting cards. I was hoping to find a Christmas version, but these two were very pretty and pink. To my great surprise, I found a super cool looking Pochacco keychain. The head and body are separate and can move, almost like a bobble head version.

What I was most hoping to find would be a special holiday Pen like they sold in the 90's. I will always remember during the holiday season when Sanrio had been selling these cute light up big pens. It comes with tiny silver batteries, but it was worth your money. Such a great holiday gift. Below is a pic I found online on the holiday big pen I mentioned.

Discontinued Sanrio Characters?

Ok, I want to know what's the deal with both characters, Pochacco and Keroppi?

Is it me or was it told through the Sanrio community that Pochacco and Keroppi have been discontinued. Recently, I have taken a trip to Sanrio's online USA website and Sanrio was selling new things of Pochacco and Keroppi. So, my big important question is - Are Pochacco and Keroppi back in production?

If they do make new plushes.... Sanrio, here's a hint, try not creating this kind of designed plushie:

Actually, I cannot find this other picture of a weird looking green colored Keroppi plush that is being sold in Sanrio stores this year. Let me tell you that must have been the most awful looking Keroppi plush I have ever seen. Back in 2005, at least the Russ company designed a pretty good looking Keroppi plush. Take a look below. Isn't this 10X better than above??

And why would anyone buy this??? See pic below. I mean, c'mon! Seriously, a Make-Your-Own Coin Bank? *Putting My Head Down in Gloom*

Sanrio, make beautiful design quality products instead of trying to make your potential buyers do the work for you! Sheesh. It's like they have run out of ideas and this is what they have come down to.

Thankfully, not all Sanrio products have failed.

^ The design of the Keroppi bed set is really good looking. I'd definitely buy it. Definitely, a pleaser for any Keroppi fan, no matter the age. I think what really works for this design is that it's mainly white. A really good choice. Also, I love how the white compliments well with the bright neon green bedsheets. And that white photo frame above the bed is so freakin' cute. Pictures like this gives me a great idea to search for that kind of white photo frame and just stick a Keroppi picture just like the bedroom scene above.

If Sanrio is bringing back Keroppi and/or Pochacco, why not bring back some old favorites like Tuxedo Sam and Pippo?

Sanrio Momoberry X-mas Plushes

I love Christmas Sanrio Plushes, especially when it's really beautifully designed and exclusive.

Below is two Momoberry Christmas Plushes that I will treasure forever.

^ The first 2007 Christmas Plush in Box set, I was very lucky to get Plush # 7 out of 100 plushes made. I really would be happy with any number and just to have my very own Momoberry X-mas Plush with her beautiful red dress that matched the theme for the Holiday season was a wonderful feeling.

For the 2008 Pink Plush in Box set, I had no idea that Sanrio was selling another Momoberry plush that other Hello Kitty collectors have told me sold for a lot of money. My guess would be nearly $400. Thankfully, I got my 2008 plush at a reasonable price from a really sweet and nice Hello Kitty collector.

Hear It Loud & Clear!

eCampaign: Bring Back Momoberry

If you think I was joking about sending LOVE LETTERS to Sanrio's Momoberry Headquarters, THEN THINK AGAIN!

I'm dead serious about this and have thought about campaigning about our love and devotion to Momoberry! It needs to be sent as proof to Sanrio that we, sanrio addicts, are very serious about Momoberry.

Spread the word!

Why you should spread the word:

  • Don't you want Momoberry back fulltime? If it opens in L.A., we fans will make sure to buy and buy so that one day Momoberry can expand and open their stores across the states. Wouldn't that be a dream? World domination, people!
  • Show your Momoberry appreciation! Sanrio needs proof that we love MOMOBERRY! The more love letters of appreciation, the more attention we'll draw from Sanrio!!!
  • Without consumer demand, the people behind creating Momoberry won't work hard enough to push out better quality designed Momoberry plushes!
Why would you not bother Sanrio?   <---  *whining plus combo sarcasm*

Momoberry

Who doesn't love SANRIO's Hello Kitty Momoberry? Pink and quirky are what Momoberry is all about!

One of many things I have come to love about Sanrio is that they're willing to go to the next level of trying to recapture our love for Hello Kitty. In my opinion, they have succeeded when they created "Momoberry." I have never heard of Momoberry prior to 2005, but if you haven't heard of Momoberry, then here's a little background information:
  • Other than Japan, the only "Momoberry by Sanrio" store in the States was opened in Beverly Hills, CA in 2005.
  • Momoberry is catered to the adult Hello Kitty fans
  • Definition of Momoberry:  Momoberry is Hello Kitty with a twist -- breezy, quirky, stylish, a little older, surprisingly sophisticated and of course very pink.*** here's another going around the net: "We think of Momoberry as a state of feeling peachy, pink, breezy, quirky, stylish, and sophisticated."
  • Momoberry's iconic image is to give Hello Kitty an eyelash and a heart on it's right ear.
  • Momoberry gave Hello Kitty legs (which ruins my Hello Kitty image!!!)
  • Momoberry closed it's doors in 2007 due to not making enough profit for Sanrio -- PLEASE COME BACK TO L.A.!!!
When I was a little kid, every time I visited a sanrio store, I felt like I traveled to a different world that had every girl's little dream of so many beautiful, colorful, and cute things... it almost felt like I was a little kid in a candy store!

I never thought that feeling would go away. But, it did in 2002. It was a disappointing feeling of high expectation to expect the continuation of quality and creative designs from Sanrio. It felt like the products were mass produced and the "special" feeling of what we loved about Sanrio was suddenly gone.

The "special" feeling came back when I stepped into the Momoberry store for the first time in 2005. It was such a great feeling that I missed for a long time. It was also the only Hello Kitty store that I've seen selling humongous sized plushes! Truly there are sanrio addicts like me that would actually purchase those huge plushes.

My Beautiful Momoberry Purchases:

Now you know why I am such a big fan of Momoberry. Quality design, products, and creativity. Amazing stuff for a girl like me who's ultimate favorite color is pink and just loves pretty things.

Momoberry might cater to those Hello Kitty adult fans with charge cards, but I'll always remember the store for my love of plushes. The store sold many things, but one thing I always went for are their infamous designed plushes. That's the only thing I cared about when I entered their Momoberry store.

Now with Momoberry closed, the only closest thing that is similar to Momoberry is a new brand store called Sanrio Luxe. From the pictures that I have seen, Sanrio Luxe hasn't yet pushed me to be a great fan like I am with Momoberry. I am a loyal Momoberry fan for life, but don't expect me to love every little thing that is branded with the title, "Momoberry." After 2007, I'm disappointed with the designed Momoberry plushes out there that comes from Japan. They're not as good as the plushes sold in L.A. during 2005-2007. I hope they haven't run out of "creativity" steam over there in Sanrio. Are you listening, Sanrio? Bring back Momoberry to Los Angeles where it belongs!

I'm probably going to whine about bringing Momoberry back to L.A. a lot in future blogs, so bear with me, Sanrio addicts! Now, who's with me with flooding Sanrio with love letters addressed to their Momoberry Headquarters???
^ I'm not kidding! I'm actually serious here. Don't make me beg. LOL

Update on Junolyn's Store:
http://junolyn.ecrater.com

Below are a couple of sanrio stickers that are up for sale on my eCrater Store.

^ Surprisingly, I always thought that I would keep these stickers for a long time. I guess when I bought this five years ago, I went overboard in buying stickers left and right. Here are a couple more stickers for sale as well:

Starlight

Introducing my lovable siamese cat, Starlight.

You know you have a problem when you start to name your pet after a Sanrio character. Coming up with a name wasn't exactly hard, but I couldn't exactly call my cat, "Hello Kitty." Would be too obvious, plus it didn't sound right to me. I wanted to give her a perfect name based off my love for Sanrio. So, I started down the list of my favorite characters and crossed off both Pochacco and Keroppi because they're male characters. My cat is a female siamese. In the end, I chose the name, Starlight. Naming her "Kiki" didn't really sound as great as "Starlight." And, "Lala" sounds more like a song than a name. Nor naming her, "Little Twin Stars." It would have been a mouthful and not exactly a one word name. I think my next pet I'll name him/her "Pochacco" regardless of gender.
