Examples of FAKE Sanrio Items

Ok, newbies, let me remind you again.

This sticker below really looks like it's made from Sanrio, but it isn't. I purchased it years ago from a sanrio collector and the backing comes from those printer blank white sticker paper that you buy at an office supply store. You can view it here. It's made by a fan and NOT worth your hard earned money.

REMEMBER FAKE!!!

Once you are familiar with sanrio products, it will be very easy to differentiate which is an authentic Sanrio product and which is fake. Below are examples of fake items. Really simple plain products with stickers pasted on items like these just give me mind boggling questions as to why anyone would waste their time selling fakes on e-bay? Surely, there is no stupid Sanrio Hello Kitty fan out there who'd buy these below.

Don't be fooled. Remember this e-bay seller

Another e-bay seller.

Recent Sanrio Products

There was a Hello Kitty plush awhile back (see pic below) that was on sale at Sanrio.com. I believe it's still selling on Japan's Sanrio shopping website.

Nearly a good designed plushie- almost there, Sanrio!

^ This 2009 White Hello Kitty Plush caught my eye because I loved the red and white scheme of it all. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase it because I think the designers went overkill with the different colored hands and feet - or should I say, paws? I really love the red bow and the red neck ribbon because it really compliments well with the white plush color. Too bad, they messed it up by adding tomato looking hands with white specks.

This next plush below is a SILVER dazzling piece of Hello Kitty plush that you can get here. I love the colors and the dress. I really would be interested in seeing this plush in a regular, less overbright setting to pass any kind of judgement.

Spectacular comes to mind when I see this!

^ Unfortunately, even if I see it in person and the silver fabric of the plush is as great looking as the pic above - I still wouldn't purchase it. My reason? I don't like my plushes' body turned sideways with the head staring straight forward. I like my plushes' body and head facing at the same direction. And, it would also help if there was a larger size like say "HUGE!"

One day, I would love to decorate my bedroom with items like these below:

^ I love the idea like this, but the design isn't exactly to my taste. Another thing that I might dislike about it is that it looks like it's made out of fabric material.

Have you seen this retro wrist watch Japan's Sanrio is selling? They are really going back in time. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Bring back the vintage type Sanrio ring watches! They were so cute.

OK, PAY ATTENTION YOU SANRIO NEWBIES!

TIP: Below is FAKE. This is an example of fake sanrio items on e-bay. Seriously, can you imagine??? Yuck.

Video of the Day:
Here's a new trailer for the Hello Kitty Online game! I can never get tired of watching the 3D Sanrio characters, especially HK, MM, Pochacco, and Keroppi.

2009 Three Apples Hello Kitty Event

Last year in 2009, there was a special Hello Kitty event called the Three Apples, celebrating Hello Kitty's 35th Anniversary.

"In honor of her 35th Anniversary celebration, Sanrio is proud to bring an event to the U.S. like nothing America has seen before!

It was my first time as a Hello Kitty collector to think about going to events like these because five years ago, I wouldn't have been interested. Plus, I just don't love Hello Kitty enough to wait in long lines for more than an hour for a special event. Maybe for an exclusive pretty plush to buy... really depends on how pretty and how exclusive the Sanrio item would be. Luckily enough for me, the Hello Kitty event was opened for more than a month. It was a good experience to visit to see old vintage items on display... but other than the displays and the store, that was all I was interested in.

^  When I first heard about the Hello Kitty event, I was planning to take my sweet time to check the event out at the very last minute. It wasn't exactly top priority for me. As a sanrio collector, it should be a top priority to go see, but I think I am a nit-picky kind of breed of collector. I love Hello Kitty, but I don't want to have it in all aspects of my life.

B-U-T - Then I heard that they were selling an exclusive limited edition Hello Kitty plush. After, I saw the picture of the plush with box set, I changed all my plans for that day and got myself a copy to add to my collection. If the plush wasn't retro looking and pretty, I probably would have never went to the event and just looked at the pictures that surfaced online.

When I was browsing in the Three Apples store, I came across this sanrio book, Sanrio Days, that I have seen online and was interested in buying. I changed my mind after I skimmed through the book.

^ Though the book was interesting, it just didn't have enough vintage merchandise pictures to be of an actual good reference guide book for a collector like me. Right now, they are selling it online at the Sanrio USA website if any of you addicts are interested in purchasing.

.::New on Sanrio.com::.

Well, hello there, Pekkle! Nice to see you again. Aren't you a retired character? What gives? I want to see Pippo or Tuxedo Sam products next.

^ Maybe it's the lighting, but Pekkle is looking good after all these years missing in action. Hmm, I need to see this physically or in less bright pictures.

There's a couple of new set of Sanrio pens of My Melody, Hello Kitty, and Keroppi.

^ I'm still not sure if I like these new pens. Will need to see these pens in person to pass final judgement. At least they look better than the pens created over the last few years.

USA Sanrio's Pochacco Sale

It has come to this: Sanrio has put their new 2009 Pochacco purple luggage set up for much lower prices.

^ If Sanrio had to cut prices for this Pochacco line then it must be not doing so well in selling online and in sanrio stores. Gee, I'm not really surprised. Maybe it's too purple or too mass produced feeling? Definitely great for little kindergarten kids out there to buy. Is that the problem? Well, for me I know that I won't purchase this kind of product because it doesn't compare to vintage Pochacco designs. I'm just too spoiled. Sanrio gave us wonderful looking Pochacco designs in the 1990's, so I have high expectations for them to keep it up. I have seen the vintage 80's and 90's Hello Kitty backpacks for kids and even as an adult, I would buy it for myself because the difference is that the design series was better.

Have you seen the Keroppi stuff they are selling on Sanrio USA's website?

^ It's been on their website for more than a month now. The design and color scheme overrall - ugh. There's no other words to describe on how I feel about this design.

I'm really disappointed in today's Sanrio pens and pencils. I mean, why does it look so tacky like that? I'm probably harsh in my opinions, but geez, I can tell you in the past, Sanrio has created some excellent designed and great quality Sanrio pens. This looks cheap and mass produced.

Now compare the current Keroppi pen above to vintage pieces below. Here's one of my many vintage pens/pencils that I adore:

Hello Kitty 2009 Eraser w/ tiny stuff
It looks too mass produced
^ Or maybe I just don't like the design at all.

New My Melody Series

For you My Melody addicts out there, here is a new My Melody series that you might like.

^ Personally, I don't like the design. It's nothing extraordinary. It just doesn't catch my interest. Maybe it's the color yellow they chose for the butterfly accessory on My Melody's ear. If you want to see the products, you can go here.

.::E-bay Purchases::.

Lately all my 2010 purchases have been off of e-bay and all of them are vintage sanrio pieces.

^  This is a favorite purchase for me because I love the inside of the Hello Kitty memo fold Notes as seen above picture. I love this Hello Kitty *bear* series. This vintage Hello Kitty design, not the new design with the pink bear. I think the design with the pink bear is cute, but the design and products seem too "childish" for me. I am not sure if that's a correct term to describe my not liking the pink bear series. To me, the design is for the young generation of Sanrio fans. It be a perfect gift for a Sanrio kid under 12 years of age.

Recently, I bought this lovely vintage Kerokerokeroppi pens:

^ These vintage items brings back great memories, especially the pens. I love Sanrio's vintage wrist coin pouches a lot. They just have a certain appeal to having something so cute as this around my wrist, even though I'm a full grown adult and not a kid anymore. Maybe it's because I love the Keroppi *balloon* design series so much.

Pink My Melody Plush

This isn't exactly a physical indoor Sanrio USA store purchase, but I just paid for this pretty pink big My Melody plush. Isn't this sweet? My belated New Years' gift to myself.   ;0)

^ Thanks to the help of one of the Japan sellers, I can add this to my plush collection. She also helped me get the red My Melody plush that I have been wanting so bad. As soon as I get these two plushes, I'll definitely post the pics that I will take of them.

Now to visit an actual Sanrio store... hmm.

Notebook & Letterset Collection

I have finally received my last two items that completes my Little Twin Stars *Romantic* glassware.

^ I haven't gotten around to taking a complete group set picture, but I will do so within this month or next.

Notebooks / Lettersets:

Here are a couple of random pictures of my collection of Lettersets, Notepads or Notebooks:

^ The pictures above are examples of what I have in my collection. I have more notebooks and lettersets, but mainly after year 2000. I used to keep them in a small clear plastic bin with a handle on top, but that became full very quickly and now, I keep them in a bigger plastic storage container. I'm most likely have to do the same for my collection of pens and pencils.

Sanrio Hello Kitty Dream

Have you been out doing some great Hello Kitty 2010 shopping yet?

I haven't yet gone back to doing some major damage to my wallet for some Sanrio stuff. Since getting sick, I haven't ventured out of my little apartment so I really need to do that soon. Finally, my nagging cough is gone! Yesterday, I was coughing like I had a fur ball stuck in my throat! I'm glad that Robitussin meds started to finally work because it failed me all weekend. I felt like I was dying that I wanted to drink the whole bottle to get rid of this bad cough, but my sane brother took it away and took over my per 4 hr. dosages. Thankfully, most of my feverish dreams were something I can't really remember, but I hope Hello Kitty, Pochacco, or even Keroppi popped in somewhere.

I've had one or two weird Sanrio related dreams before I had gotten sick. In my dream, I was suddenly in this room with all these vintage Hello Kitty/Sanrio stuff that just appeared out of nowhere. I was like, "For me?" I was literally jumping with excitement, especially over the fact that I had doubles of nearly everything. How lucky could I be? Should have been the first sign in my dream that it wasn't real, but it felt so good because the stuff was brand new. The dream was cut short when I woke up in the morning. Let me tell you I was so disappointed that the dream wasn't real at all. It felt like they just had been in my hands and now they're gone.

Don't you just hate those kind of dreams where your mind plays tricks on you? That dream definitely told me that I really want vintage Sanrio stuff. LOL! It seems I'm enabling my sanrio addiction one step further.

Back to Business

My New Year's turned out awful. Right on New Year's Eve, I got sick. I nearly had to stay in bed all weekend. I really wanted to catch up on some minor kitty shopping. Now, I am back and ready to blog despite having this nagging cough that just won't go away even if I take Robitussin medicine for it.

Now with a new year, I'm excited for new products.
I see that Japan has a new design theme for Little Twin Stars:

^ Looks pretty like usual, but I need more clear and not so overbright pictures of the product to make a judgement call to see if the products are in good quality to catch my interest.

I still need to visit more Sanrio stores for this Hello Kitty series:

^ For the first time in years since I can remember since the 2002, I have found a Hello Kitty design series that I really like. Maybe it's the pink and white dot scheme overall.

Here's the plush from this series:

^  At the time, I was searching for this plush and the *I love HK* series that I came across this plush by accident at the Three Apples 2009 Event in Los Angeles. Luckily, I have now added this small cute plush to my collection. Though, I wish there was more of a bigger version.
