Hello Kitty Birthday Nails: PRINCESS KITTY

When you plan a very special birthday weekend, then you must have your nails done by a professional technician. I did just that in preparation to celebrate my upcoming birthday.

For this year's Birthday theme, I was going for a Princess nail design. Here is what I call: Princess Kitty nails.

Last year, I kept my nail design very simple. This year, I pushed the details a little further. It worked out nicely.

I still wanted some elegance to my Birthday nail design, so I chose a necklace style and stones as a feminine fashion statement. I'm a girly girl, who loves being a woman and wants to flaunt her very girly nails to the world.

As you can see above, Marie Nails did an excellent job with my nails. Mixing Hello Kitty and very classy upscale nail art is what I live for these days. I'm always wanting to see if I can push the details a little further without going too overboard in design.

This year, I decided to add a crown on Hello Kitty and to make it a bit more special. My nail artist, Sayaka, brilliantly came up with the idea to add crystal stones below the crown. It was the perfect touch on something fancy.

To complete the design, I had the technician add a sparkly bow to the second Kitty art nail. It was a move that completed my fashion statement fix that I wanted to incorporate in my nail design. Lastly, I love that on one hand, there's a red bow Hello Kitty and on the opposite, it's a pink bow kitty.

Sweet.

This nail creation is one of my favorite Hello Kitty nail art. Unfortunately, next year I'll be focusing on another Halloween theme nails, instead of a Birthday theme.

I hope that I have inspired you to get very cute Sanrio theme nail art. Until then, have fun with all the kawaii art out there.

Hello Kitty Easter Nails

At first, I wasn't going to blog about my new nails that I had gotten done for Easter, but eventually, I decided that I was too nitpicky about it.

Below are Easter theme colored nails of light blue, green, yellow, and pink. An added touch is white. All colors are glittered to make it shine a bit more. More plain and less expensive than my previous Hello Kitty nails.

Overall result, I'm a bit unhappy with it, but then again -- it's an experiment style that I am trying for Easter. For next year, I have already found my next Easter inspiration to do and I'm excited to once again try another style.

While my nail pattern is somewhat a ray of whimsy colors, it isn't too bad when light hits it and my fingers shine all over the place. I'm just not in love with the nail art of Hello Kitty. The nail technician didn't make the nose yellow enough because it looks like the character has no nose. Unfortunate, but an experiment fail. At the end, she didn't even ask me if everything was all right -- meaning if I was okay with my nail art. Always at the end of the session, all nail technicians have checked with me if there was any problem. At the end, I decided to choose a favorite technician and stick with that person when coming to get my nails done.

I was aiming for a different nail style than just all glitter nails. It's similar to the glitter style, but more of a textured tone to it. Another thing is that the nail technician didn't want to mix colors to create a lighter Easter effect. The only option similar to the style that I wanted had to use glitter.

I guess if you're designing nails for your career, wouldn't you expect that they can create really cute 3D nail art characters?

At least now that I can cross off Easter nails on my bucket list for Hello Kitty. Eventually, I'll make my way to other Sanrio characters for Easter. What do you think of this style? Do you like?

My Birthday Nails

For this year, I was feeling in the mood to celebrate my birthday with a new set of Hello Kitty theme nails. I wanted to go simple and adding a touch of elegance to the nail design.

Here is what I call: Cotton Candy Hello Kitty

For this design, I was going for kawaii meets chic. I didn't want to go overboard by adding too much to the nail style. At the end, I just wanted to create something elegant with Hello Kitty.

I wanted the colors to correlate with one another by going the pastel route. I figured that three base colors could work together to make a sweet image.

Overall design--- I really did enjoy getting it done at Marie Nails in Los Angeles.

My nails were done by Sayka, who did an awesome job of creating such beautiful nail art. The main color base is a very light coral pink. I remembered telling her that it was this particular color that fascinated me. The color at first glance didn't look like pink until she told me that it was based in pink. In order to get that specific pale pink, she would have to mix it to create that tone of color.

In choosing the white stripes with gold colored stones, I felt that it brought an elegance to the nail style.

In order to keep it simple, I was careful not to add another white stripe style on my right hand. While it may be simple, I noticed that adding stones around Hello Kitty makes the style glamourous. When the light hits the stones, it makes a pretty shimmer. You would just have to see it in person to appreciate the overall design. The stones truly add a beautiful effect to the nail art.

The blue green color really pops out at you. I like the effect of how pretty it turned out with the crystal and gold colored stones. The pastel pink costume on Hello Kitty adds a touch of kawaii, which goes well with the very light coral pink base.

Every time I walk out of the nail salon, I am extremely happy with my nails. I enjoy making Hello Kitty part of my daily life of celebrations. Such exquisite art on my nails is another way to show my love for Hello Kitty. Whether I go very simplistic or very detailed, one thing that I know is that I will always cherish the many designs created.

Christmas Nails

When I got my nails done with a Christmas theme, I never expected the results to turn out so good. My nails sparkle like Christmas time -- corny as it may sound. I feel like I am carrying around Christmas lights everywhere I go with the nails shimmering in red and green.

Ever since I got my nails professionally done by nail technicians, I have spoiled myself that I can never go back to painting my own nails for special occasions. I feel all pampered and girly after getting my nails done. It's a girl's right of passage to get all beautified.

When I see my nails so detailed with 3D art, I feel like I can't just put stickers on it. It feels like the real stuff is adding professional art rather than stickers. I guess it's my nail preference choice that has guided me to Marie Nails. I am always searching for the best of the best.

After each visit to the nail salon, I have realized that my nail designs started off very simple and progressed into a more detailed art design. A week has passed since my last visit and I am so in love with my nails.

Earlier in the month, I knew that my theme would be a red Hello Kitty Christmas nails. I loved my Halloween nails and wanted to have a similar design. I thought that having a full figure of Hello Kitty instead of just the head would be fascinating. I was right. I loved the Santa Kitties on my hand. Each in a different Santa theme outfit.

Shouts Christmas, huh? ;p

If you think about it, I have a present on my finger. It's ready with a bow on top. Here's to a very Merry Christmas this year. May your holidays be bright and full of laughter. Stay warm! XOXO

Halloween Nails

I wasn't planning on having my nails done for Halloween this year. It all started with a simple design from a talented nail artist from Kawaii Nails in Tustin, California. When I first saw the picture on Instagram, I thought it was a perfect yet simple design for Halloween.

I have always wanted to have my nails painted all black and it felt like perfect timing for a spooky season in October.

Magic in progress

When I get fascinated by a simple design, I won't be able to stop thinking about it. While I was making an appointment with my favorite nail artist at Marie Nails in Koreatown, I just knew I had to have that nail design replicated.

Spooky yet glamour fun

And I did just that -- my nails are black and ready to celebrate Halloween. Mika did an excellent job as usual. The details that Mika added are exquisite. When my hands move, my eye catches a glimmer of shine. The black matted nails match perfectly with the zombie and skeleton Hello Kitty art. Simple but fun.

Having my nails done makes me get into the spirit of the holidays even more. I feel ready to head on to the end of the year and face a new beginning. I'm looking forward to next year's Halloween nail design to try out.

Happy Halloween!

HK Con Diary 2014

As it gets closer and closer to the first ever Hello Kitty convention, I have been preparing and planning out my two kittified outfits for the last few months. I didn't need to buy anything extra for my Thursday outfit because I had the clothes and accessories already in my Closet.

What I needed to plan out and purchase was mainly for my Halloween outfit and of course, my Hello Kitty nails.

I love how it turned out

Since I wanted my nails to be done by a talented nail salon, I found that Marie Nails in Los Angeles to have an excellent reputation for creating lovely nails. The nail salon is Japanese owned and their nail techs are very talented Japanese artists. With a nail salon picked out, I made my appointment three months in advance.

The result for my nails was very kawaii-meets-sophistication. I am a simple girl and love simplicity the best. As I type this blog post, I am fascinated with how very cute my nails are as my fingers are spread out on the keyboard. With both hands, the Hello Kitty face on each hand seems to be winking up at me as it blends nicely with the other white colored nails. I like the very fact that my nails are not overly done, but has that simple touch of kawaii-ness.

This being my first time to have my nails done in a nail salon, I plan to get a more detailed nail art design for my next visit. I am not sure if I'll go with a Hello Kitty theme again or a Sanrio-fied theme.

After getting my nails done, I kept asking myself why I don't get my nails done more often by professional artists. I really should...
