New Addition to my Sanrio Collection

About two weeks ago, I went to another Sanrio store and bought the last two Keroppi keychains at West Covina's mall.

A bit cute, right?

New Addition!

^  Last week, I received a beautiful Pochacco metal trash can that is still in mint condition. How cute is the can above? If I keep this tucked away somewhere in a big bin, I'd probably use tons of bubble wrap to protect it from dents and aging. I can imagine putting it up for display, but never using it... I mean, c'mon, it's going to be one classic vintage piece for years to come! How rare can you find this kind of trash can in mint condition with no BIG dents or any kind of damage to this piece?? And, especially my favorite kind of Pochacco design of all things.

Storage: Rent or Don't Rent?

Ok, sanrio addicts, I need advice!

Remember a post a while back that I asked where in the world would I keep my newest big 22" Hello Kitty plush in my small apartment? Well, I was planning to rent a storage unit again, until I heard on the t.v. news that there has been storage thefts and coincidentally, there is one junkie on HKJ that lost her sanrio collection because of storage theft.

So, I'm in a dilemma. I keep asking myself what I should I do? I would love to have extra space here in my small apartment, but then again, I am afraid of storage theft.

I went searching on the net and found this great article..........

RECOMMENDATION: STAY AWAY FROM PS- PUBLIC STORAGE... HEARD they have a really bad reputation in theft cases and sometimes identity fraud cases

Guard Your Storage Unit From Theft

Recently, self storage has been in the New York local news in Onondaga and Oswego Counties regarding the arrest of a group of criminals who lead a string of robberies in nearly 100 storage units in 2009.

Police departments from several cities worked together to bring the ban of 3 burglars to justice. The criminals will now face serious charges in the many cities where robberies occurred, including Syracuse, NY.

The news of robberies in the self storage industry is few and far between, but never reassuring for current or would be renters. If you are currently renting storage or think you may need storage there are several steps you can take to protect your belongings and ward off theft.

First, you should select a self storage property with the utmost discernment. Price is usually the first thing to pop into a person’s mind when they begin to consider renting storage, but they will quickly realize that no space is worth their money if it is not secure.

For this reason, you should compare the security features at self storage facilities in your local area. If you are storing valuable or sentimental items, then it is worth a few extra dollars each month to place your items in a well monitored and secure location.

Here are some of the features you should look for to find a safe storage facility:

  1. Fencing – The property should be completely fenced with a quality, high end security fence. The exception to this rule may be storage facilities in the city that offer all indoor units. If there are no exterior units, then the building itself will serve as a barrier to outsiders gaining access to the property.
  2. Access Controlled Gate – This ties in to the fencing mentioned above. Once a property is secured by a fence, the entrance needs to be secured and limited so that only tenants can enter the property. In the storage industry, this is referred to as an ‘access controlled gate’. Again, if the property has all interior units, a gate may not be necessary. In this case, access to the building should be restricted by the office manager so that only tenants can enter. In either case, tenants should be given a PIN number unique to their account in order to gain access to the property.
  3. By assigning individual PINs, the property manager will be able to review a log of who entered the property at what time, should there ever be a need to narrow down this information.
  4. Video Surveillance – When you speak to the property manager, ask them if they use cameras to record activity on the property. You must be careful here to discern between inadequate and adequate surveillance. If the only camera is at the entrance of the property, this may not serve well enough in the event of accident or theft on the property.
  5. The most secure storage facilities will use a combination of visible and hidden cameras. The visible surveillance will act as a deterrent for would be criminals and the hidden cameras will capture any suspicious activity.
  6. Beyond finding the right facility to keep your items safe, there is another way to protect yourself against monetary loss. Many self storage companies offer supplemental insurance policies or premium lease options that will safeguard the loss of your items against negligence or theft.  (Lynnie's opinion: once your sanrio collection is stolen, who gives a crap about insurance money back! It's the emotional loss of a collection that will put a sanrio addict into deep depression.)
  7. Before you take out an extra insurance policy, be sure to read the fine print and see if there are any restrictions on what items may be covered or limits to the amount of coverage. If you are storing items of higher value, there are typically extended policies you can take out to cover the value of your items.
  8. Fine print in the lease agreement may also restrict the items you can store so be sure to follow the guidelines of the lease. It may seem like a hassle, reading the fine print, but knowing the rules will prevent denied claims, should you have the need to make one.
  9. Following all these steps is the best way to prevent any loss but really the self storage industry is a very safe and dependable place to store your keepsakes. Once you choose a storage facility that applies these security features you can rest assured your items will be safe. (In most cases- not all the time, the author forgot to mention that lil tibit - *being sarcastic*)

^   If you have read the storage recommendation, it describes my storage facility to the "T."  But, most likely, I might just talk it over with my storage facility's managers more on their security and any cases of theft, before I make a decision on whether to put my sanrio collection in risk. To a sane person, you'd think my problem would be a joke, but to this sanrio addict, it gives me nightmares about losing my beautiful collection after so many years of building it. That would just horrify me and I wouldn't be able to get over it. *Crossing my fingers that I'll never have to go thru that experience*

Rare

It seems like the millionth time I have went through my sanrio stuff and I accidentally came across one of my momoberry plushes that I had completely forgotten that I have bought years ago when Momoberry had been opened back in 2007.

Treasured Momoberry

Another great vintage find is a Little Twin Stars' *Unicorn* series Chest Drawer Caddy...

 Marvelous, isn't it?

And a pretty Hello Kitty vintage notebook and pencil to go along with today's theme of rare stuff:

Loves my collection!  :)

More and even more stuff!

all vintage

Have a safe and great weekend, fellow sanrio addicts.

End of January E-bay Purchases

More stuff won from e-bay...

Vintage LTS Eraser

Vintage Pochacco sticker

Vintage band aids

^  I'm still waiting on Sanrio to bring back stickers like shown above. The newer stickers are pretty cute, but mostly are too small. Maybe Sanrio is trying to sell small- teeny weenie stickers for people who like to put their sanrio stickers on their cell phones/notebooks... that's my only guess.

Big Delivery Day

Let me tell you how I am feeling right now....

SUPER FANTASTIC!

Why? Because when I got home from a hard day at work, I was greeted with the sight of two big sized around 24" boxes. I knew instantly that my Sanrio plushes have arrived! And, at the same day, too. The staff at the apartment manager's office don't even bother asking anymore if the packages are for a special event like someone's birthday cause it's a special day for a sanrio addict almost regularly throughout the month.  :0P

Every time my brother sees a new sanrio product, he complains daily about my spending so much money on sanrio and calls my addiction a "sickness", which I think he is half right, but I'll deny it if you tell him.  *wink, wink*

I just can't help my sanrio obsession. Normal people like my brother will never understand why I do what I do, but, you sanrio addicts, understand every time you go in a sanrio store or get a sanrio product in the mail.

Basically, I just ignored my brother's attitude toward my sanrio collection and started opening my packages. The first package that I opened was my pretty 22" Hello Kitty plush.

Instantly, I knew I made the right decision to buy this plush. Before I bought this plush, I didn't know if I would like the yellow and red combo color scheme. But after pulling it out of the package delivered box, I can tell you that this plush will stay in it's plastic. Yup, can't let the dust and dirt effect the condition of this brand new plushie. This plush is definitely on my list of important sanrio stuff and might end up in a big bin until I am ready to have it fully displayed one day. Same goes for my other two new plushes I got today. Both are My Melody. One pink and the other is red - just different kinds of plushies. They're not the same. Pictures of my new plushies will be posted either on Saturday or on Monday.

NEW Little Twin Stars 2010 February

I am not sure if the pink ribbon hair accessory on Lala's hair really works, but the new stuff still looks wonderful!

Check it out! I want to buy the chest drawer below:

Reminds me of the vintage piece I have in my collection

^  I am definitely going to buy this one. I am a sucker for chest drawers like these because they remind of the vintage stuff that was made years ago. Awesome stuff.

More stuff of this design that I am interested in buying...

LTS Spiral 2010 Notebook

Looks nice - 2010 multi color pen

I'm still not too keen on the Lala's hair accessory. It just doesn't look right in the design. Hopefully, when I buy the LTS pens, I won't be disappointed and they end up in my online store.

Sanrio bin Upgrade

So this past weekend...

I realized that I need to do some extra shopping. Bins & bubble wrap, of course. What else would a sanrio addict like me do, but run out of space.

I use the red medium sized bin to store my lettersets and notebooks/pad, but in less than a year, it has filled up pretty quickly. When I upgraded my "notebook" carrying bin to the red medium bin, I didn't expect to need another bigger upgrade.

In the carrying storage bin, I have one bin for erasers, two others for my pen/pencils collection, and one for my sealed stickers. In the end, I'll have to upgrade my small "pens/pencil" bin to the medium sized bin because I am running out of room as I keep adding pens/pencils to my collection. When I upgrade any of my collection to a bigger size bin, I'm always hesitant because I always think about what happens when an emergency happens and I have to pack and leave. With small bins like above pictured, I'd have no problem carrying down to my car... but with a bigger storage bin, I would need help.
