Retro 80s

These days, Sanrio has been gradually re-releasing retro versions of their older merchandise to every Collector's delight. We are hoping more versions are on it's way because this gives a chance for new Collectors to actually own something like these below.

Above are very small cases of the real thing. I am hoping they will release the vintage pencil cases that came with multiple hidden storages with just the click of a button. It was a favorite of mine because it came with a ruler, eraser, and tape -- all in one case. The cases could open on both sides, where you can store many pens and mechanical pencils.

It was my go-to organizer for my writing tools. I feel like a nerd because these were important to me. Unfortunately, the vintages pens and cases are not sold anymore in Sanrio stores. The quality in the past was much better than as of late.

These next collectibles are the retro drawer cases that a lot of Collectors will treasure over the years. I love that the fact that I own one of these babies from the 80s collection. And, in MINT condition too! You can only find the vintage versions on e-Bay for an expensive price. This is more worth it because I can save myself a hundred dollars and the item is not used. Jackpot!

Which one is your favorite?

Junolyn's Wishlist for 2015

I've accumulated a lot of Sanrio stuff in the past couple of years and can easily decorate a room with what I have collected. A room full of my secret stashes that I hoard to myself because I am obsessed over collecting little things like erasers, pencils, stickers, and many more. This is my treasure room.

While my treasure room is crowded with my collection, I am always waiting to add special older pieces that I cannot find in stores or online. While I might one day would like to score the original vintage collectible, I wouldn't mind getting a remake or retro design of the items that I have on my wishlist.

Most collectors have a long never ending wishlist to score. Myself included. For this list, I will only highlight the important ones that I really want.

Here's my list:

1.   White Hello Kitty Telephone

I don't want just any kind of modern telephone from Sanrio. I want a style from the 70's like below. Retro vintage and classic type style. Maybe move the finger.  ;p

2.  Large Size Ceramic Figurines

I am always wanting to own large sizes of ceramic figures. I think I want to own one of all 6 of my favorite Sanrio characters and put them in a glass display case. Crazy, huh? You are probably asking where I would find the space, but in my case--- there are no worries for this collector. Would you give up the opportunity to own this collectible below? I know I couldn't pass this up. Double major points if I could get my hands on one in the future.

3.  LTS Dolls

I know the ones who manage to score one of these rare dolls are truly lucky souls to have been graced this blessing gift. I am one of those lucky souls. Truly something precious. I would love for a replica or retro doll to be released one day.

4.  1989 Hello Kitty Stapler with Hello Kitty face Staples

One of my fondest childhood memories was owning this Hello Kitty stapler. It would let you staple cute HK staples on a paper. It was something that I most enjoyed having when I was a kid. Even my teacher in grade school thought it was cute because I had turned in one of my assignments with a Hello Kitty face staple.

5.   Hello Kitty Flashing and Light up Pen

The fact that Christmas is my favorite holiday was because I remembered that the HK/Pochacco flashing light up pen came out around the holidays. The whole store was filled with so many goodies, but this stood out the most because it would light up when pushed down.

6.  Hello Kitty Kitchen Cutting Board

This cutting board just screams too cute style for grown ups! It's something you definitely know older adults wouldn't mind using in the kitchen. I know I would! It's not pink or plastic!

Well, that completes my list for the year 2015. All choices on the list have already been released and cannot be found as easily to obtain and add to my collection. Hopefully, one day. Until then, good luck to all collectors working on their never ending wishlists.

Special Focus: Tuxedo Sam

Finally up is my review of selected 50th Anniversary Items

Tuxedo Sam 2010
Gallery Update

I've said before that adding another sanrio character would be way out of my budget, but do I ever listen to my own advice? Nope. If I did, you would see blog posts about items for sale, instead of reviews on Sanrio products that I have recently purchased.

Years ago, I had no interest in Tuxedo Sam. I thought the characters like Tuxedo Sam, Keroppi, Pochacco, Pippo, Pekkle, and Spottie Dottie would always be around. In my opinion, these characters represented the core of Sanrio, with Hello Kitty as the center of focus. Once they took away these characters listed above and replaced them with new characters, I felt that is when everything started to crumble. I feel like Sanrio went through too many changes. One of them is introducing new characters and then ditching them and their fans. Now, it seems like Sanrio is slowly relearning to appreciate their original characters that made their company so loved. With Tuxedo Sam missing in action, I have taken a second glance at the character and am amazed that I have found another character so adorable to want to collect their products. Finally, I understand the love for Tuxie. Sorry, fans, but I'm giving this special penguin a nickname. Hmm, that gives me an idea! Keroppi= Oppi? Pochacco= Pokie? Suggestions, anyone? Surely, you don't want me to decide by myself and choose horrible nicknames now do we?

Coin Banks
I admit that I am just plain prejudiced when it comes to Sanrio's coin banks. I just love collecting these type of small statue-like figurines. Whether it's small or big, I adore them. These coin banks are 5 inches tall, making them a perfect fit to display them in an enclosed glass case cabinet. For collectors: The box that comes with the coin banks are very sturdy material, way better than the LTS/MM chest drawers' boxes.
My Sanrio Rating:  ♥♥♥

 Just plain ADORABLE!

Tuxie Stationery
I love the blue version Tuxie, but I think Sanrio hit the jackpot when they chose the a pink version to re-introduce the character to the new generation of Sanrio fans. Take a note, Sanrio, bring back Tuxie permanently... along with Pochacco and Keroppi.

Design Critique: the foil-silver background is very pleasing to the eye, making it another obsession on my products like polka dots.
My Sanrio Rating:  ♥♥♥

Yes, I adore my double copy  ;0)

Memo Pad with Sticker!!! Sticker design is awesome.

While I was on my rehab diet, I missed out on a few adorable things from the Carousel series. That'll teach me from listening to my enabler. Don't they just nag too much?

80's Handbags

Available in the USA, Sanrio's retro 80's designed handbags have a new modern twist to it. The handbags have a much more sportier feel to it. I keep thinking these handbags would make a great accessory when going to a bowling alley. What do you think?

This is my favorite out of all three

Second favorite. Even with my dislike for the black nose, I still love the handbag!
HK 1988 Classic Handbag
My Sanrio Rating:

A old series from 1983. A very cool looking bag that I wouldn't mind being seen with in public

And later in the week, I'll post pictures of my new Japan stuff of Tuxedo Sam and LTS. Lots of goodies coming my way in the mail. Vintage included. Priceless is my word for the day when I think of what I just bought. I'm such a teaser, huh?

Retro classic watch

Vintage classic Television

^  Lately, it's been nice of Sanrio to reproduce vintage classics for new collectors who have missed out on these great creations. These three pieces are excellent examples of great vintage design that will always be treasured forever. The difference you see in the stores now and the designed products you see above are miles apart. Thank god for e-Bay- right, vintage collectors?

Hello Kitty Safe Book

When I first saw this special made book with a hidden compartment, I knew that I would love to add this to my collection as a decor item for my Kittifying Makeover Project that I am still working on. Though this time, I'll definitely be using it, instead of it being used as a display. So much temptation this month, huh?
